Coolabah Turf is Victoria’s largest turf grower, supplying premium quality instant turf to professional landscapers, commercial projects, councils and homeowners throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria. All home grown turf grass varieties are harvested fresh daily from our Echuca farms and delivered to customers in less than 24 hours of harvest. All turf products are supplied in a premium quality slab cut form to ensure foolproof establishment for every green industry professional or first time DIY, backyard ‘’turfie’’.
Morally and environmentally, the Coolabah Turf team is proud to specialize in the exclusive supply of drought tolerant turf varieties primarily to supply the residential home owner market in Melbourne’s northern metropolitan suburbs and Victorian regional townships located between Albury to Swan Hill and Mildura along the Murray River in Northern Victoria and southern NSW, and south to Bendigo, Ballarat Geelong, Horsham and Warrnambool.

- We offer a free lawn care advice service for the life of all lawn purchases and,
- Provide a range of quality lawn care products including fertiliser, pest control and weed control.
To assist us to better service customers within our regional markets, we have formal affiliations in place with a number of selected businesses who operate as retail outlets for our products at distribution centres located in: Shepparton, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Maryborough, Ballarat and Horsham.
Bunnings Warehouse
We also supply Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo turf to all Victorian stores in the Bunnings Warehouse network.
Selected Bunnings nurseries who are stockists of Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo turf are able to fulfil a niche for a small volume cash and carry market. This concept was born from our desire to make Australia’s number one selling turf grass variety, Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo, more affordable and more accessible for homeowners wanting small turf volumes. Coolabah Instant TurF
The company
The company policy and environmental platform to transition away from cool season turf varieties (predominantly Tall Fescue) more than six years ago, was in direct response to learning how to live with continuing drought conditions and the impact global climate change continues to have on water security and subsequent water availability and bylaws governing its domestic use in residential markets in all target regions.
The Coolabah Turf product range includes five varieties: Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo, TifTuf Hybrid Bermuda, Eureka Premium VG Kikuyu, Nullarbor Couch, and Sir Grange Zoysia. Two of these varieties, Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo, and Kikuyu, are patented and are protected under Australian Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) licensing laws. It is a requirement of the plant breeders, that growers are accredited before being granted a license to produce PBR varieties to ensure turfgrass grown is consistently high quality and is weed and disease free.
All varieties grown have been selected to be included in the Coolabah Turf stable because they are the most proven species in each of their plant categories for the regions in which they are grown and sold to ensure the best results for end users. Under the Lawn Solutions Australia Group, varieties have been rebranded and are currently being marketed as: Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo, Eureka Premium VG (formerly Village Green), Eureka Kikuyu (common Kikuyu) and Nullarbor Couch (Santa Ana Couch).
Lawn Solutions Australia is the peak industry body for turf production and lawn care maintenance in Australia. This role ensures they have a voice for their business and our region on national policy making decisions which will ultimately guide our business and industry activities into the future. Our affiliation with this group also ensures that our business and our customers are in the box seat to have first right of refusal on any new turfgrass varieties likely to come onto the Australian market in coming years. Coolabah Turf turf managers are currently conducting trials for the LSA group on our Echuca farms to continue this passionate commitment to progress and trailblazing in the area of plant breeding.
